Only the DA can create jobs for the youth of the Eastern Cape

The youth of Eastern Cape, and especially in the rural part of the province, have had their futures stolen due to corruption and the high rate of unemployment caused by the failing ANC government.

Today, 23 April 2019, I launched the DA’s Sidikiwe Campaign in Matatiele and was joined by Alfred Nzo Constituency Leader, Thandeka Mbabama MP, DA Youth Eastern Cape Provincial Chairperson, Mawethu Kosani, as well as Chantel King MP and Nomvano Zibonda MPL. Through the Sidikiwe Campaign the youth of the Eastern Cape are saying that they’ve had enough and they have a plan to turn the situation around.

To assist the youth the DA plans to:

  • Pass a jobs act to incentivize new and growing business to create jobs.
  • Create fair access to jobs by making sex for jobs a form of corruption.
  • Introduce a voluntary civilian service year for matriculants to get work experience in education, policing and health – the “Maimane year”.
  • Introduce a youth job seeker subsidy to assist graduates looking for work in cities to afford decent accommodation.
  • Bring back teaching colleges to train more primary school educators and convert failing schools to collaboration schools.
  • Partner with the private sector to provide driving lessons to matriculants as part of the life orientation campaign.
  • Create safe schools for young people and create development programs for youth at risk of crime and gangsterism.

The youth of the province have had enough of unemployment, sex-for-jobs, substandard education and not having a say in governance.

The only way for the youth of this province to change their circumstances is to go out on the 8th of May and vote for a DA government.

The failing ANC is the architect of South Africa having the highest youth unemployment rate in the world.

Only a DA government can fight corruption, create fair access to jobs and has a plan to put a job in every home.
