The DA in the Eastern Cape wishes to congratulate and welcome four new PR councillors who have been appointed to serve in the Nelson Mandela Bay Council.
Marshall von Buchenroder, Werner Senekal, Saki Tukani, and Marco Blaauw, will take up their positions and be sworn in shortly.
They take up the positions that were left vacant following the tragic passing of Cllr Buyelwa Jacobs as well as the vacancies left by Retief Odendaal, Kabelo Mogatosi and Dr Malcolm Figg, who were elected to the Eastern Cape Legislature.
Our new councillors bring a mixture of experience and new fervour to the table.
Von Buchenroder is a former member of the EC Legislature and also served as the DA’s Shadow MEC for Roads and Transport. Before his tenure in the Legislature he was a councillor in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.
Senekal is also a former NMB councillor who served as a chief whip of council and until recently was the DA’s Chief of Staff in the Legislature.
Tukani is a former DA staff member and has been working as a support officer to the DA Caucus in NMB.
Blaauw is a DA activist in the Northern Areas of Gqeberha who played an active role in our election campaign across the province and has 15 years of experience in the financial sector.
We have full confidence in our new councillors and their ability to work with the Caucus to implement the DA’s mandate to fight for clean governance and quality service delivery in Nelson Mandela Bay.
The DA is in your corner, fighting for you. Together we can get Nelson Mandela Bay working again.
