DA encouraged by positive special voting response as province goes to the polls

03 Nov 2026 in Press Statements

The Democratic Alliance (DA) is encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive response from residents across the Eastern Cape during the two days of special voting.

Our teams across the province have reported an overwhelmingly positive reception, reflecting residents’ frustration with the state of their municipality and their desire for reliable services, accountable leadership, and a functioning local government.

The first day of special voting was particularly encouraging for the DA, and the positive response has continued into the second day. We thank every resident who has already cast their ballot and every volunteer, party agent, and campaign worker who has contributed to this effort.

The DA has consistently campaigned across the Eastern Cape, engaging with residents, listening to their concerns, and presenting our vision for stable, accountable local government.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, 4 November, is election day and the final opportunity for all registered voters who have not yet voted, including those who were registered for special votes and have not yet been able to cast their vote, to have their say.

The DA has made our case. Our campaign has focused on restoring stability, improving basic services, repairing infrastructure, and ensuring that municipalities work for the communities they serve.

As voters head to the polls tomorrow, the choice before them is whether to continue with the current direction of their municipalities or support a different approach to local government.

Voting stations will be open from 07:00 to 21:00. We encourage every registered voter who has not yet voted to unite behind the DA, exercise their democratic right and make their voice heard to get Eastern Cape municipalities working for all.
