The Democratic Alliance (DA) wishes to thank the residents of Kouga Local Municipality for once again placing their trust in us and re-electing the DA, with an increased majority, to lead the municipality for another five-year term.

Tens of thousands of Kouga residents turned out to show their support for the progress made under a DA government, with the party increasing our share of the vote between the 2021 and 2026 Local Government Elections.

In 2021, the DA secured 53.89% of the vote. In this year’s election, we increased our majority in Kouga to 58.55%. In addition, we won two wards previously held by the ANC and increased our representation in the 30-seat council to 18 seats.

This growth in support is a testament to the difference that good governance, grounded in the principles of accessibility, accountability and trust, can make in the lives of our residents.

This result is a victory for the people of Kouga, who have chosen to Keep Kouga Working under a stable DA majority government rather than risk being trapped in coalition chaos, where the ANC, EFF and smaller parties fight over positions instead of fighting for the people.

When the DA took over the municipality in 2016, Kouga was rated among the worst-performing municipalities in the Eastern Cape. Since then, the DA has transformed Kouga into a beacon of service delivery and financial sustainability in the province.

We extend our sincere thanks to all our voters for their overwhelming support, as well as to our candidates, activists and campaign team for their dedication and incredible hard work throughout the campaign.

Together, we will continue building on this progress and Keep Kouga Working.
