The DA remains committed to forming a new coalition government in Nelson Mandela Bay and we are working around the clock to unite all opposition parties in a bid to oust the ANC from power.

Today, 1 September 2022, I was joined by DA Mayoral Candidate, Cllr Retief Odendaal, for a meeting with the leaders of the Northern Alliance, DOP and Good in an effort to consolidate all opposition parties in removing the ANC government.

On 28 July 2022, leaders of the DA, Freedom Front Plus, African Christian Democratic Party, African Independent Congress, Abantu Integrity Movement, Pan Africanist Congress, and the United Democratic Movement signed an agreement to form a new coalition government. We remain committed to this agreement.

Nelson Mandela Bay is now, more than ever before, in need of a new government, with the ANC-led administration recording historic failures with regards to finances and service delivery.

The DA and our coalition partners will make addressing issues of good governance, finances and service delivery our top priorities should we gain control of the Metro. And we hope that other like-minded opposition parties, who want the best for residents, will join this cause.

We will not allow the ANC to further sabotage the future of NMB and we are certain our coalition partners will stand right beside us in this fight.

Our residents deserve political leadership that puts them first, and who conducts the business of the city in an open, transparent manner.

Let’s get Nelson Mandela Bay working again.
