The Democratic Alliance (DA) started flighting the first of our 2026 Voter Registration posters in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro in Gqeberha today. The flighting of posters has already begun across municipalities in the Eastern Cape.
With the flighting of our voter registration posters, we urge voters to register to get their municipalities working. The reality of local government in our country is simple – where the DA governs, things work. Where there are messy coalitions or other parties governing, things go wrong, services fail, and communities suffer.
And nowhere is the failure of coalition governance clearer than in Nelson Mandela Bay. Under the ANC/EFF-led coalition of chaos government, assisted by proxy parties such as the National Alliance and Patriotic Alliance, the Metro is experiencing catastrophic service delivery failure and financial collapse. This has crippled the municipality, rendering it incapable of performing some of its most basic functions.
Residents are living with water and electricity outages, broken street lights, pothole-riddled roads, sewage in the streets, and the fallout of financial mismanagement and corruption.
This City cannot survive another five years of chaos and instability and that is why voters must register to vote and vote DA in these elections.
Any eligible voter who is not correctly registered where they live will not be able to vote in what will be the watershed November 2026 local government election.
A DA-led government in Nelson Mandela Bay will install Retief Odendaal as mayor to ensure a Safe, Well-Run, and Growing City to get NMB working again.
